Shooting, starving and meddling in the economy of millions of middle easterners is going to make lots of enemies... and the best way to continue the war machine is to find an enemy and any nation occupied should generate one. Remember Operation Enduring Freedom by my estimates spends $20 million per engaged insurgent. Their the most lucrative enemy money can buy, and the US military would fold quickly under the financial constraints if they could not keep their boogeymen on lifesupport... The US military depends on these insurgents for their financial survivial - THAT is the real truth.. |

Maybe the Taliban offered them more money. Where does the Taliban get the money to fight? They must have a large army for the war to drag on this long. The war is a strange thing. I haven't heard any evidence that we are losing and I haven't heard any evidence that we are winning. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 879288Old war tactics needed. Why don't they just admit they are at war with Afghanistan and now Pakistan and get on with some real war tactics ... just get it done! |

I guess George W thought it would be easier, they'd welcome liberation from tyranny and since they were very well educated they'd welcome democracy. |
