Brian should let his son use his model glue for building his models rather using it for unintended purposes.

Re: Meteor 2 miles across hits China
If you go by this and estimate your 500 miles away from the impact nothing much will happen to you. So depending where a 2 mile rock hits in China it may have no effect on China at all.

Please note: the results below are estimates based on current (limited) understanding of the impact process and come with large uncertainties; they should be used with caution, particularly in the case of peculiar input parameters. All values are given to three significant figures but this does not reflect the precision of the estimate. For more information about the uncertainty associated with our calculations and a full discussion of this program, please refer to this article

Your Inputs:
Distance from Impact: 805.00 km = 499.90 miles
Projectile Diameter: 2414.01 m = 7917.95 ft = 1.50 miles
Projectile Density: 1500 kg/m3
Impact Velocity: 20.00 km/s = 12.42 miles/s
Impact Angle: 45 degrees
Target Density: 2500 kg/m3
Target Type: Sedimentary Rock
Energy:
Energy before atmospheric entry: 2.21 x 1021 Joules = 5.28 x 105 MegaTons TNT
The average interval between impacts of this size somewhere on Earth during the last 4 billion years is 2.8 x 106years
Major Global Changes:
The Earth is not strongly disturbed by the impact and loses negligible mass.
The impact does not make a noticeable change in the Earthīs rotation period or the tilt of its axis.
The impact does not shift the Earthīs orbit noticeably.
Crater Dimensions:
Transient Crater Diameter: 17.9 km = 11.1 miles
Transient Crater Depth: 6.33 km = 3.93 miles

Final Crater Diameter: 26.2 km = 16.3 miles
Final Crater Depth: 0.791 km = 0.491 miles
The crater formed is a complex crater.
The volume of the target melted or vaporized is 13.8 km3 = 3.3 miles3
Roughly half the melt remains in the crater , where its average thickness is 54.7 meters = 180 feet
Thermal Radiation
The fireball is below the horizon. There is no direct thermal radiation.
Seismic Effects:
The major seismic shaking will arrive at approximately 161 seconds.
Richter Scale Magnitude: 8.4
Mercalli Scale Intensity at a distance of 805 km:

III. Felt quite noticeably by persons indoors, especially on upper floors of buildings. Many people do not recognize it as an earthquake. Standing motor cars may rock slightly. Vibrations similar to the passing of a truck.

IV. Felt indoors by many, outdoors by few during the day. At night, some awakened. Dishes, windows, doors disturbed; walls make cracking sound. Sensation like heavy truck striking building. Standing motor cars rocked noticeably.

Ejecta:
The ejecta will arrive approximately 436 seconds after the impact.
At your position the ejecta arrives in scattered fragments
Average Ejecta Thickness: 1.76 mm = 0.0691 inches
Mean Fragment Diameter: 677 micrometers = 26.6 1/1000 of an inch

Air Blast:
The air blast will arrive at approximately 2440 seconds.
Peak Overpressure: 8710 Pa = 0.0871 bars = 1.24 psi
Max wind velocity: 19.8 m/s = 44.3 mph
Sound Intensity: 79 dB (Loud as heavy traffic)
Damage Description:

Glass windows will shatter.

A 1-2 miles long meteor would effectively wipe out one half of the world and the other half would suffer the fall-out. Third-fourth of life will perish.

Hereīs a link to the calculator I used to get the info above.
It really all depends on what the thing is made of, what it hits and the angle it hits at.
I tried to use median parameters for the results above.

So this is an end world event predicted, forgive me for being so skeptical but will it hit china because of current world views and the popularity stakes, I donīt know the history of Brian and Iīm new to GLP, just my opinion (prepared to eat humble pie)

If youīre 500 miles from ground zero, the initial impact is not what will kill you. The ensuing shock wave and firestorm of ejecta and debris will.

Re: Meteor 2 miles across hits China
Not to mention world wide impact due to the giant cloud of dust and earth ejected into atmosphere. Would be a nuclear winter type scenario with clouds of dust encircling planet, dropping temperatures all over, for quite a while.

and p.s, i was sceptical about Brianīs predictions at first, but he has had several right on predictions that i have seen. Lets hope this is one that doesnt come true.

Thatīd be awesome. Lessen world population, eradicate all viral threats that ALL come from China (coincidence? I think not). Only think is, things would cost more again.

What does this guy do? Sit around all day thinking of calamities to make a website?

Come on, NO ONE, I mean NO ONE can have dreams every night about disasters!

Does he have some master list, kind of like hurricane names, that details every way to die imaginable?

I think so.

Wasnīt David Booth telling us the world doom should begin in October.

But that should have been 2004!
How many more times will you believe in those dreams which are manipulated into the brains of sensitive personalities?
Doom scenario is overruled by Godīs decree.

"A METEOR THAT ENTERED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE AND THAT WOULD POSSIBLY WREAK HAVOC ON EARTH WAS BROKEN INTO PIECES AND RENDERED INEFFECTIVE BY A U F O BEFORE IT HIT."

Booth I found to be very arrogant, but the jist of what he said was that it would start in October.

My take was that this would happen over a few years.

I think the guy is pretty sketchy though.

This guy hasnīt "hit" anything. Heīs been caught several times posting "dreams" hours after the news has been available.

Further, the ones heīs "close" to are nothing more than vague predictions. No different than what a fortune cookie says or a phoney fortune teller would tell you.

Just another monger.
