Since gun control has been mentioned in this thread, may I offer just a bit of food for thought?.....I wonder if this issue cannot be put to rest once and for all......It seems to me that the time has come for pro gun people to begin putting all this energy they expend into lobbying for a constitutional amendment.....Since, obviously the second amendment applies to militia (hence the ongoing fight) and has indeed become an anachronism in modern society....(You are not going to stand against a government with modern weaponry)....The two legitimate reasons for gun ownership are hunting and especially self protection.....Why not demand that the Constitution clearly state such?.......NRA won't like this idea because they make big bucks off keeping the fear of someone taking your guns away going......Just think about it a bit?.....

Won't matter, because by legal definition, every able bodied male is the militia.

The 2nd Amendment isn't about personal protection. It is about the Right to armed revolution. I will never accept its dilution.

So yes, I can agree with the Democratic Party's position on gun control, which is simply that it's not healthy for law enforcement when the general public to own AK-47s.
