User ID: 538751 United States 09/27/2010 10:00 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In the ultra-close 2000 Presidential Election, the great majority of American-Muslims voted Republican because Muslims are generally very conservative. 10 years later, the majority of American-Muslims have woken up to the fact that most conservative Christians are very anti-Muslim, and apparently the teabaggers are very anti-Muslim. We hear the loudest protests toward the mosque/Islamic Center near Ground Zero coming from conservative Republicans and FOX News. We see the conservative Republican pastor Terry Jones trying to burn Qur'ans until mostly Democrats - including Pres. Obame - talked him out of it. We hear conservative Republican Pastor John Hagee and others condemn all of Islam. American-Muslims are now looking to the Democratic Party as being all inclusive and providing equal rights for everyone - including us. American-Muslims are changing their party affiliation by the thousands and will vote Democrat in the November election and continue to vote Democrat for the forseeable future. I imagine the conservative Republicans will respond by saying, "Good rittence to the American Muslims" and "Look at the Democrats harboring Muslim terrorists." Quoting: Muhammad 1111802We American-Muslims are good people who worship the One God just like Christians and Jews. We are growing in numbers. We will no longer ignorantly align ourselves with the Republican Party when such a vast majority of Republicans seem to hate us. So, Democrat, then? The red clay of Georgia, the catfish-ladden waters of the Carolinas, the scent of the pines of Alabama, and the delicacy of magnolias that grace Mississippi are in the blood of a true Souternor, distilled for generations. Wow Lurker, Got me beat hmm, My family has stayed in the South, the fact that your claiming your Southern heritage thru your great grandfather and not where you were born tells Me you haven't been a southerner for awhile, why claim to be when your not? Got reading comprehension? I said that *one* could not claim to be a true Southernor by just living there, 'cause any real Souternor knows that it's not where you were born, it's where one's great-grandfather was born. I only alluded to my heritage. But FYI -- tracing the lines of my four grand-parents, three of the four can be traced from Virgina to Georgia in the 1700s. And the fourth, my maternal grandmother's line, can be traced to Charleston, 1689 ... and then to Georgia. And in Georgia, the families took root, owning land from Appling to Athens, and all along the Broad River. The pines of the Piedmont are more than likely nourished by the bones and blood of my ancestors. My DNA probably has mixed with the mud of the Savannah River for generations. One ancestor was at the Battle of Atlanta. Another was a teenaged Confederate at Gettysburg. I'm probably THE most Southern person you're ever likely to know of -- because it's on *both* sides of my family and goes back to 1689. Sho' nuff. But I sho' 'preciate you seein' 'bout mah family, tho. |

User ID: 381742 United States 09/27/2010 11:12 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Southerner here! Poor people do poor people things, and rich people do rich people things. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it! when you rob Paul to give to Peter ... ... ... you will always get Peters support! :Brieffromnativea: |

Does the man look poor or oppressed? Is he really a terrorist? Am I guilty of profiling? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1?
