Honestly... What's Arizona like? | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 955328 United States 09/27/2010 12:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Texas is much more diverse and offers a much better econmony as far as more for your money. Tons of places to go, close to beaches, I mean it is beautiful there. You can live by the beaches, and in thirty minutes be in the country. It is very nice. Houston and the towns near there are wonderful. Tons to do. Tons of culture. Try Lake Jackson, or Alvin, or a larger town, Victoria. Quoting: Angel HelperIt is so nice. My in-laws live there in Corpus Christi, and i have lived there for a few years and loved it. Want to go back one day. Sorry, but my husband just spent 8 months working in Victoria and he said he has never seen a bigger hell-hole than that place. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1007287 Belgium 09/27/2010 12:39 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want to relocate there with my husband by 2013. Quoting: fleshetteI currently live in Vancouver. It is a boring dreary city full of aloof unfriendly robots and rich foreigners. It has the most obvious disparity between super-rich and dirt poor homeless junkie fuckbags that I've ever seen. There is no room here for a middle class. But there are more group homes, fetal-alcohol zombies, damaged street people, drunk natives, and various examples of eugenics in action, per square inch, than possibly any other place in the world. The police are brutal and unaccountable to anything [But I suppose that's the same anywhere in North America] I like sunshine and actual Mexican food. I like cacti. I am tired of getting my vitamin D from little white pills. I look great with a slight tan, and I haven't seen stars in the night sky in about 7 years. Would Arizona be a good fit? Are there a lot of hippies? That could be a deal breaker [still better than fruit-picking French-Canadian hippies any day of the week]. Alls I know is, as an American, I've fucking had it with Canada. I turned 18 and I had the desire to either live in the desert, or the pacific northwest. I also sought to escape the increasingly fascist climes in the states. I made my hasty decision, and while it was fun for a while, the fruit is off the bloom. I loathe this place and everything about it. The fake greenwashing. The massive superiority-complex. The lame drug culture. The excessive number of Asians. The rich trust fund kids. The smell of mildew and dankness. There's so little sun here, I still have green tomatoes in my garden. Tell me the grass is greener there. Please. In other words, Canada is a shithole. I figured it would be. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1007287 Belgium 09/27/2010 12:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There are a lot of ignorant rednecks, retired people who have some resources but not enough to lead interesting live, and just about zero culture except for Latino food and art. Quoting: Angel HelperThat is a brutal depiction, and maybe true... But Vancouver is a vacuum of culture. There isn't a building older than 150 years here. There is no art and nothing that isn't imported from elsewhere. They make American movies here and host the olympics and think that makes them a Big Deal. It is a joke that isn't funny anymore. Sociopaths galore with a pretty strong drug culture. really like to get out of here. I work remotely so I do have that flexibility Quoting: Anonymous Coward 964991Victoria is nice, and the island in general is beautiful. It's primarily a college town. It has a huge superiority complex over Vancouver, as it should. Certainly no cheaper to live there, but it depends how you choose to live. A lot of ex-pat Vietnam vets ended up there also, it's an interesting mix. If you telecommute, I'd go even more remote, like the Sunshine Coast or something. GTFO of Ontario though!!!! |

I wouldn't take a shit in FL. Why don't I just mainline some corexit and save myself the trouble? Sorry, that place is ruined. I grew up in the suburbs of washington DC. I know what a mixed-ethnic neighborhood is like. Especially once it is taken over by MS-13s. Much worse than unskilled Mexicans with leaf-blowers. |

Its no wonder that gas is 4.00 , there is a lot of hiking around here but its better to just drive to Page . I've lived here for about 8 months and the taxes are way too high there are no decent places to eat the rent is outrageous . Great place to visit though. |

I have lived in Phoenix (skip), Mesa (some areas nice), Laveen (skip), Fountain Hills (wonderful), and now in Gilbert (wonderful). Gilbert is safe, family friendly, green, and the community I live in even has a beach lagoon! (Half sand beach which transitions into a pool with waterfalls behind it!). Community lake on the other side of the beach lagoon and another Olympic pool. We can't leave cause living here feels like we are on vacation 24/7. |
