Re: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat
So, decided to give this diet a try, along with running and walking daily.

I've been doing the low (lower) carb thing for nearly two months, but haven't been weighing myself, just seeing what would happen.

So far I haven't noticed huge changes or anything. I think I might have lost a tiny bit of weight.

Today was my first weigh in, which came to 247.2 pounds. (I'm 5 feet 11 inches tall.) My goal is to get to about 180. (Because, honestly f--k it, I'm forty and even if I had washboard abs that wouldn't get me supermodels. I just don't want to be fat forever.)

I did my first run/walk today, which was 5.2 miles of running (honestly a medium jog) and 2.85 miles of walking after that. (It was supposed to be 5.2 as well, but I started forming a blister on the ball of my right foot and want to be able to run/walk tomorrow.)

My current plan is to try and lose at least one pound per week. I'll weigh daily, since I know that can help me stay on track. (It varies from person to person I hear. I always do better with daily weighing and almost always gain weight if I don't do it.)

I have a history of eating disorders (overeating mainly, binging in particular) and have had exercise addiction.

Because of that I want to keep my overall exercise to about/below three hours a day.

*I haven't been running for a while however, in case anyone wonders how I gained all that weight. I have a very sedentary job right now and have been working hard hours at it. It shows on the the waist line.

Right now, since I'm really ramping up, I'm working to keep my carbs to under 20 effective per day.

Now, here's my question for you...

How do I increase fat in my diet without loading up on protein? I can't just eat nothing but spoonfuls of coconut oil. (I mean I can't, not won't. I tried it for a day. I was so sick... TOTAL keto burn that day though!)

Ideas?
 Quoting: H.G. 927602

Cream cheese is a good addition. Pate's are great as well (though watch the carbs on some of them). Have omelettes and add in the butter and cream. I usually have a cream sauce with most things or mayonnaise. You can also make lots of yummy coconut and cream curries. Try Thai red curry, green curry and yellow curry - loads of recipe's around.

Another idea as to make creamy, cheesy dips for your meats. Making meat on a stick is a fun way to do this.

Snack on macadamias, almonds, etc. They are good fatty nuts.

You will get some protein sure. But they are usually about 2/3rds fat and don't forget that fat is 9 calories a gram. So if you get something that's 10g of protein and 25g of fat, the calories are 40 from the protein but 225 from fat. A perfect calorie ratio.

Good luck. You will quickly find it's not just about losing weight. It's about liberation from the fridge and constant hunger. It's also about a whole bunch of health benefits like lowering the insulin levels so that you don't need to eat lots of anti-oxidants to counteract the huge oxidation and inflammation that carbs cause.

This diet is bullshit. I've been on it for 4 days and haven't lost a single pound and I've been doing exactly what was said to do.

I even threw in a pretty rigorous, 20 minute exercise routine WITH cardio, and nothing.

As much as 4 days eh lol

That's really giving your body time to adjust after a lifetime of carbs!!

Complete horseshit dude. you can eat whatever you want if you just get your lazy ass off the couch and WALK.

People trying to take the easy way out with this diet will certainly fail in the long run, not to mention this diet will completely destroy your mental well being leaving you feeling weak, confused and foggy.

It is a FACT and you know it!

I've lost more weight with a good long fast walk every day and eating nothing but PASTA so go fuck yourself with this low carb diet CRAP.

lol - you obviously don't understand metabolism, how it changes with age, etc, etc. You don't understand how wheat in particular screws up your whole endocrine system meaning that eventually you can eat next to nothing and still gain weight.

You should read the thread and see the evidence from the Government's own statistics. At the turn of the century average calorie consumption was 3750 calories a day. Today it is just over 2,200. That's a difference of 1,550 calories a day. Now, walking burns about 70 calories an hour more than sitting on your errm arse! If you walked for 24 hours a day that's just 1,680 calories. Hell, if you went for a TWO HOUR flat out run you will burn 1,000-1,200 calories.

During a marathon an average size runner will burn about 2,500 calories. That is all. So for the difference between what we used to eat and what we now eat you would have to run the equivalent of a marathon every other day.

The calorie theory is absolute bunk! It ignores the degrading effect that long-term consumption of carbs, particularly wheat and corn, have on the ability to process glucose. If your muscles don't process it, it gets stored as fat. So you have some people eating more, but also starving at the same time. Yet they gain weight. Fat can only be burnt for energy in the absence of carbs or during fasting. That includes fats consumed as well as stored fat.

So, it's not sustainable eh? 4 1/2 years of weighing what I did at 21 at 48 .... after a lifetime of struggling with weight! Now it's no struggle. I drink spirits (lots of them), I eat about 3,500 calories a day, haven't exercised in months and I am thinner than 80% of 20 year olds. Can't be bad!
 Quoting: Sc0rp10n

Yeah you conveniently forgot to add that your body burns around 2000 calories per day by just being alive and sitting on your ass all day, ass.

Why don't you talk about that instead if twisting shit around to make you sound smart? You're an idiot.

This diet is shit and you'll feel like complete SHIT on it.

PERIOD!

You want to lose weight you can eat whatever the fuck you want including carbs as long as your DEFICIT of calories burned is greater than what you're taking in.

Why don't you talk about that for a while, dickhead?

I don't care if its fucking snickers bars all day, you WILL lose weight.

Shove this useless high fat diet up your ass before you give someone a heart attack.

No it is not BS, there is a huge amount of science backing this up--just add it to the list of conspiracies that have left people in poor health.

Meaning the low fat high carb diets--for people with metabolism troubles, and damaged guts due to antibiotics and toxins, vaccines....bump

Which spirits do you drink? and are they no carb? Thanks, your thread is great, and full of truth.
hfhfhf

Thanks-- I'm reading the thread backwards, gonna take some time!

"Hi,

The best alcohols are whisky, vodka, gin, rum, etc. Brandy is next but most brandies contain some carbs, but still pretty low.

I find that all alcohol stalls weight loss :( While I was trying to lose weight I was pretty much tee-total.

There seems to be a very interesting post-alcohol weight gain that can kick in one day after you have been drinking. I find that in most cases the morning after you have been drinking there is a weight loss. This lulls you into a sense of security since alcohol produces hunger for quite a period after drinking, so you tend to over eat the day after drinking. This can produce a HUGE weight gain that kicks in the following morning after the weight drop. The weight drop could be 1-2 pounds, but the subsequent weight gain can be a pretty scary 4-6 pounds. This can take about a week to come off again.

Now, I am usually careful the day after drinking and stick to about 1500 calories of mainly fatty food. This seems to prevent the big rise that seems to follow the alcohol binge.

Hope that helps.

a spoon of organic coconut oil in a cup of coffee is quite decadent

variation- add some raw cocoa, xylitol, and/or organic cream

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1502065

A good way to get the "Health Benefits" of organic EXTRA virgin coconut oil is to add a heaping spoon full into any hot drink, or broth.

It is suggested in many of these "Healing" high fat diets to add 5 tablespoons of coconut oil daily.

In my hot beverages I add a heaping spoonful of coconut oil, with coffee I like a teaspoon full of organic cocoa powder, a dash of salt (the salt really adds to the flavor), cream and the thing that makes it a special treat-- I just LOVE the "Sweet Leaf" stevia drops. I add 5 drops of "Vanilla creme" and 5 drops of "English Toffee" and the drink is amazing--

Other great flavors are "Chocolate" and "Chocolate Raspberry", "Hazelnut", "Apricot"...

I don't much like the lemon, orange, grape or mint. Those flavors are better enjoyed "real". OK< well on this diet, not the grape or orange, but a dash of real lemon juice (fresh) or a sprig of mint.....

The Chocolate Raspberry flavor is great in a glass of ice water--

For breakfast I enjoyed some breakfast sausage (sage)--I think it is chicken, and topped it with several tablespoons of Lactose free organic sour cream (full fat) that I found at whole foods.

Link below to see what the stevia drops look like--they are expensive, but last forever since you only use a few drops--if you use too much it does have a bad taste. The English TOffee smells great and tastes fantastic, really adds a sugary (brown sugar) taste to foods.

~~~Stevia now comes in Watermelon, Root beer, and cola flavors!!
Re: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat
Information is wrong ....
***The protein and carbs are the most important since they are the only two that can lead to weight gain***
Wrong as 1 gram of fat = 9 calories ... not 0 calories
1 gram of prot = 4 calories
1 gram of carbs = 4 calories
***To calculate your correct protein amount
for losing weight - do this equation:
What is your ideal weight in kilo's? Mine was 70 kg.
That equates to 1g of protein per kilo of body weight i.e. 70 grams per day.***
Protein ratio has to be based on your lean body mass ... it has nothing to do with your actual "ideal weight" ... same for carb same for fat so if your you weight 235 pounds and you are at 10% bodyfat, the amount of carb/protein/fat intake has to be based on a weight of 211.5 pounds ...
***To lose weight carbs should be 20 grams or under.***
Wrong as everybody has different needs ... someone working in an office need less carb then someone doing a physical job ... it all depends on your need/lifestyle ... same for prot and fat
***I have found that the calories and fats don't matter at all - all that matters is protein and carbs.***
wrong ... dosent matter if you want to lose or gain weight 1 pounds = 3 500 calories. So to gain 1 pound you need to had 3 500 calories and to lose 1 pound you need to have a deficit of 3 500 calories ... has simple as that. Since fat give you the most calories this is why people tends to cut it first ... to say that it dosent matter is incredibly stupid and ignorant ...
Bottom line is dont read the internet to find a good diet/expert has everybody say anything
"Keytones are energy-producing by-products of fat metabolism, which nourish all tissues of the body, including the brain."
"High insulin levels cause the body to store fat and stop the body from using fat as fuel. This means that high-carbohydrate foods make you put on more fat while leaving you feeling very hungry and unsatisfied."
The quote is because I disagree with you and am willing to try and prove you wrong.
The suffering form metabolic syndrome is horrific, it kills slowly yet effectively ruining the quality of life of the people who suffer from this.
As a culture we have been "EDUCATED" falsely to believe saturated fat causes heart disease and obesity --yet this is not true.
If we only believed what a "Nutritionist" told us ...we would all be on a low fat high fiber diet. This is what they were "taught", this is what they have to "sell" or lose their license--
just like Dentists and mercury fillings....or dr's and vaccinations.......
OMG you are going so deep ... Now you will tell me you beleive people saying you should eat alkaline to balance your "PH" ...
Look i am not saying i agree or disagree i won't even go that deep as you have to remember that people read those post and apply everything as is ... i have been a personal trainer all my life and brought people to competition level ... trust me i know what works and what dosent ...
Going that deep into the subject here won't do nothing good
"High insulin levels cause the body to store fat and stop the body from using fat as fuel. This means that high-carbohydrate foods make you put on more fat while leaving you feeling very hungry and unsatisfied."
I never said to eat high-carbohydrate foods ... well in fact i say you can but you have to choose when (like after a training when your insulin level spike i just don't see how your body could recover without carbs ...
"The most challenging notion to wrap our minds around is that the
"Calories-in/calories-out" theory is incorrect."
How do you think you can bring someone to 4-6 % bodyfat ... it is simply a matter of balancing calories input/output based on the metabolisim of the person ... saying it dosent work has no sense at all ... no matter what the study is ... it is just how it works
By the way you can't eat ketone and the only way for your body to produce it is to drop carbs below 50g / a day (average)
Some carbs are also necessary to break down the protein and be assimilited properly
I am not saying to go see the first nutrionist you ear about ... it's like anything some people just don't know what they are talking about ... and some are just crazy good ...
Ok, I see your point. But, not everyone can afford a personal trainer....and if people have metabolic syndrome and have been unable to lose weight and are sick with other symptoms--going to under 20 grams carbs a day will work--
I'll admit not many people can do this--it is a hard concept for people to grasp, but it is good to share information and might help others.
This forum is a place where people can discuss things that are outside the norm.
People need to be responsible for what they do and who they follow--the biggest danger is to eat really high fat along with high carbs. Glad you help people to get fit--it is a wonderful thing.
Re: If you want to be thin and stay thin (and avoid Metabolic Syndrome), then you have to eat high fat
It's a long time since I have posted a serious new thread on here, but this needs to be done as more and more people are falling for the spurious health advice of our Masters. Their advice is driving the obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Alzheimers and heart disease epidemics!
When considering how you eat and the advice you take from 'experts' remember that diabetic patients are worth $500 a month to Big Pharma, so its not surprising that this is rising. It has been rising exponentially since the 'low-fat' mantra was adopted and sold!
I am 5 foot 9 and used to weigh 235 pounds and lost 85 pounds by turning all the conventional health advice on its head! I was starting to develop full blown diabetes and was getting the side effects like arthritis, psoraiasis, painful tingling toes and fingers, etc. All these conditions have almost fully reversed on my new way of eating.
The fact is EVERYTHING you have ever been told about diet is totally wrong .... like totally!
OK, here is an email I sent to someone else on the subject and has a lot of links. It is done from the perspective of various people suffering from related Metabolic Syndrome conditions - gaining weight, diabetes,blood pressure, high cholesterol, Alzheimers, etc.
The simple ratio is this for the Kwasniewksi Optimal Diet, which is the one that my wife and I pretty much follow:
3 - 3.5 g fat to 1g protein to 1/2 or 1/4 gram (depending on glucose tolerance levels) carbs
The protein and carbs are the most important since they are the only two that can lead to weight gain. To calculate your correct protein amount
for losing weight - do this equation:
What is your ideal weight in kilo's? Mine was 70 kg.
That equates to 1g of protein per kilo of body weight i.e. 70 grams per day.
To lose weight carbs should be 20 grams or under.
So basically this equates to
210 - 245 gm of fat - 70 gm of protein - 20 gm of carbs = about
2250-2610 calories
I have found that the calories and fats don't matter at all - all that matters is protein and carbs.
Sounds complicated - but its not - stick to green vegetables, count the protein portions but pretty much the fat is eat as much as fills you up so you don't feel hungry.
If you weight 90 kilos and eat 70gm's of protein - you create a deficit and in the absence of carbs your weight will drop pretty fast until the two come into balance.
THIS IS WHERE YOU ARE
=====================
You may want to start off by first getting used to restricting the carbs and eating as much meat, cheese, etc as you want. You will still lose weight, though not as fast as when you kick into full mode.
If you get a stall, try reducing the protein by 10-20 gm and increase the fat by about the same amount for a couple of days. Yes, you increase your calories by doing this by about 140 a day and your weight drops, a real paradox.
Exercise increases the rate of weight loss, but is not really required to lose weight. It does help bring your resting pulse rate down though and makes you feel fitter and builds muscle which is good. It also means that you can get away with more protein that is used to build muscle fibre rather than make glucose.
If you feel hungry - then eat. This is important. And try not eat late at night. Ideally eat meal at 6-7pm but best to eat not later than 8:30.
Getting a good 7-8 hours sleep and having the occasional long lie-in speeds up weight loss. Yes, SLEEP!! And lie-ins speed the weight loss. Far more effective than any exercise.
Good sources of fat:
====================
Macadamia Nuts (you can get big boxes of Mauna Loa - the BEST - at Costco) These are our staple snack. They are so yummie!
Cream Cheese
Cream + Cream Sauces (loads of recipe's out there)
Almonds (though watch the protein) ground good for thickening sauces
Pecans
Clotted Cream
Pate (though watch the carb content on some or better make your own)
Avocado
Olives
Chicken Wings
Pork crackling
Rib-Eye-Steak (nicely marbled with fat and a cream mustard sauce mmmmm!)
Streaky bacon (watch the nitrates though, they slow weight loss and make your joints ache)
Butter (great on all vegetables - yum)
Mayonnaise
Fatty Fish - mackerel, salmon, etc
Coconut Oil (one of the best for frying)
Olive Oil (pour copiously over all salads)
Groundnut Oil (great for home made mayo)
Things you can pretty much eat
Yeah you conveniently forgot to add that your body burns around 2000 calories per day by just being alive and sitting on your ass all day, ass.
Why don't you talk about that instead if twisting shit around to make you sound smart? You're an idiot.
This diet is shit and you'll feel like complete SHIT on it.
PERIOD!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18001494
WRONG. If you've read the thread you've read about lots of people that are eating like this and feel good like they've never felt before.
I'm one example. I've never been as fit as I am now, eating this way now for a year or something. Lost lots of fat around the waist but I don't really care about that: I feel incredibly energetic, workout like never before, muscle tone is amazing, never hungry and the fun thing is there's so little in my fridge! Blood pressure dropped as well, while high pressure runs in the family.
It is not a diet (as you'd known if you'd read the thread) it's a way of eating. And once you've done it good, you don't want to go back. Everytime I take carbs and/or grains, I immediately feel negative effects of it in my body. I take that for granted sometimes when I just want to snack crap, and I can just do that in the weekends and still be in fat burning mode the next day, burning off that excess crap I loaded in. And it's hardly a difference if I workout or not: you burn fat even while sitting on your lazy ass :)
You're just a negative person without the will power and stamina to really adapt to this way of eating and stick on it for even a few weeks... If only...I know for sure you'd come back on what you said!
Anyone else think this information is actively being suppressed?
I've been trying to read the whole thread and clicking on most of the helpful links, but finding that many of the links are blocked by my internet provider or google is saying they will "harm" my computer with virus's/.
In particular the Weston Price web site.
I'm finding an easy way to get the oil up in the diet is to save the bacon grease to use again in seasoning and coating pans, and using Extra Virgin coconut oil at least a tablespoon melted in hot drinks--coffee, tea.....
I'm finding a lot of the personal stories of success very inspiring, thanks for starting and keeping this thread Scorpion.
Scorpion--how did you originally find this diet?
I can clearly see how every other diet fails---with too much protein, or carbs high enough to stop the "fat" burning.
I spent my whole life avoiding fats of every kind, carefully cutting the fat off of meat, and feeling guilty whenever I would eat "whole fat" anything, or eggs.
Now I'm eating bacon--with the fat and feeling like this is what my body had been craving all along. Still hard to wrap my head around this after 50+ years of effective programming.
BTW--my father died of Alzheimer's, and my mother died of prescription drug addiction. My mother smoked and her mind showed no signs of aging--she died at 70. I'm recalling that you enjoy your smokes--niacin??
So, I was thinking (not scientific here), that I know people can have the genetic marker for alcoholism, addictions and the such--like food addiction, it is the bodies way of processing certain foods etc.
So, I'm wondering if metabolic syndrome, and things like ADD, ADHD, OCD, Autism, and a host of physical and emotional problems wouldn't be helped a lot by this diet/way of life.
I haven't read here much about children on this diet, I have read elsewhere about children helped with seizures from a diet like this.
And lastly for now, I'm wondering about blood type as it relates to the above.
I'm O+ as is my daughter, but my Husband and son are B.
I have read that O blood type people are helped a lot with this kind of diet--so was wondering if the people here who are following this diet/lifestyle know their blood type and what type they have.
hey sc0rpi0n,
Q: why is fructose so bad ? afaik it doesnt trigger insulin to your blood.
would like you to elaborate
thx
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3142122
It's a long story, but this is the simplest explanation:
1) It doesn't trigger blood sugars because it is not absorbed into the blood stream since it cannot be used for energy.
2) The metabolic pathway for using fructose is very different. As I said in 1 it cannot be used for energy like glucose. It is shuffled off to the liver and there are only 2 things that the liver can do with it - store it as glycogen or store it as fat, but it has to be stored. It causes a lot of work for the liver, just like alcohol - in fact the similarities are incredible. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is caused by fructose in the same way that alcoholic fatty liver disease is caused by alcohol. Since your glycogen stores are nearly always full (from eating starch and glucose) most of the fructose becomes fat. Worst of all it forms abdominal fat - the worst kind! That's why you see so many 'muffin tops' these days on young girls who are usually thin (except on their belly). This is due to the proliferation of alcopops type drinks. They were better off with beer :)
3) Because of 2) the levels of triglycerides are HIGHLY elevated after fructose meals. Elevated triglycerides are the No 1 risk factor for heart disease and stroke.
4) Fructose consumption (even in relatively small amounts like found say in an apple) will decrease your immune system by 70% for up to 5 hours. So someone who regularly consumes fruit during the day could be crippling their immune system for most of their waking day. Glucose will reduce it by only about 50%, starches by 12%. Saturated fats actually raise it! Low immune system operation is implicated in many things including frequent colds/susceptibility to infection and cancer.
5) Glucose is the fuel for cancer cells. Lots of research has shown that fructose is what they need to move around the body and proliferate. It is GO juice for cancer cells.
There's lots more but that's it in a nutshell.
It is sold to diabetics on the premise that it shan't raise their blood sugar. But it's destroying them in every other way. Combined with eating glucose and starches it speeds up the damage being done by the diabetes.
I have addressed this yes. I believe Vitamin C in anything like the quantities we believe we need is only required when eating a diet high in carbs. Explorers first discovered the need for Vitamin C when they were eating diets high in starchy foods and they started developing scurvy on long journeys.
An explorer called Vilhjalmur Stefansson first discovered that Vitamin C was not required during 1906 to 1918. Here is an absolutely fascinating article.
[link to drbass.com]
The key point is here:
"From 1906 until 1918, Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson ate almost exclusively fish and seal meat, often raw or fermented, and almost no vegetables - living as an Eskimo among Eskimos. He concluded that he had never been in better health in his life.
In this article, he concludes that wild meat/fish is better than citrus for scurvy, that meat is excellent for the teeth, that exclusive meat diets increase health, and that humans may have no need for varied diets with vegetables & fruits."
Some of the expedition members were actually cured of scurvy by being fed a diet rich in seal blubber. Eskimo's will go most of the year without eating fruit and veg. They do not suffer from scurvy.
I can spend weeks without eating any fruit or vegetables but have never found any problem with scurvy. I do however make sure that I eat lots of liver, in the form of liver but also liver sausage and pates. Liver actually contains more than enough Vitamin C for our needs in the absence of carb rich foods. Indeed 100g of most liver gives you between 30 and 60% of your daily recommended Vitamin C dose.
I also eat limes in Thai green curry. It is part of the green curry paste. I also enjoy 1/2 lime in my sparkling water and diet Cokes. Lime is the best fruit since it contains almost 0 fructose.
Hope that answers your questions and kills another myth of our modern age.
Thank you.
Wanted to share--just made a
Dreamsicle drink.....good flavor from growing up in the 60's.
One glass of filtered water, vanilla stevia drops to sweeten, a few drops orange flavor, and some heavy cream and a few ice cubes--yummm.
The combination sounds weird unless you are familiar with the "dreamsicle" orange popsicle filled with vanilla ice cream.
I'm going to watch this movie about a small town that goes back to a native diet high in fat and low in carbs--
I don't know whether it was posted here (it is not new), I still haven't gotten all the way through the thread.
The Dr. that made this movie has a great blog and is raising his kid on a HFLC (HIgh Fat Low Carb) diet, or was it LCHF?
Dr. Jay Wortman who made the movie above has a great blog, he has been on this diet for many years now and his youngest daughter was conceived and raised on it, his description of how healthy she is is great!
Here is the blog...
There is much more, but here is a snippet...
"A couple of days ago, our neighbour’s teenaged daughter called to ask if we had some fresh basil to spare. I cut some sprigs and put them in a baggie which she came to fetch. As I came back into the house, I passed Issy who was busy with some toys in the hallway. Without looking up, she said, “That was nice of you, Dad”. My wife and I exchanged looks of incredulousness. This is something we find out selves doing a lot these days with our little daughter who seems so advanced for her age.
Issy has acquired a large vocabulary and is very good at expressing herself, often using multi-sylable words and complex grammar and syntax. She is very self-assured and polite. She is always saying, “please”, “thank you”, “you’re welcome”, “no thank you Dad”. She loves books (one of her brother’s good habits she has picked up) and insists on a number of them being read to her at bedtime. We have noticed that it takes only a couple of readings for her to accurately memorize the text which she then recites as though she is actually reading. She announces each book by its title and author and seldom makes an error when reciting the story, page by page. All of this before her third birthday. We think she may be exceptionally smart and are looking forward to her pre-school which starts soon so we can get an objective opinion on that (I am acutely aware of the fact that all parents tend to think of their kids as exceptional).
Of course, if there is something extraordinary going on here, I attribute it to her dietary history. She continues to thrive on her LCHF toddler fare.
She eats with gusto and likes a lot of the things she finds on her daddy’s plate. In the morning we share my usual breakfast of frittata with tomatoes and mayo. Occasionally, when I have more time, I make a plate of over-easy eggs with lots of salt, pepper and cayenne with fried tomato and maple flavoured bacon all doused with mayo and green salsa. She wolfs that down. She still eats the special foods we prepare for her including pureed meat sauces and veggie dishes like creamed spinach but she loves our dinner entre’s like barbequed salmon or ribs or steak and will still try to grab a sip of wine when we aren’t looking. She is tall for her age and slim and fit. And she is as tough nails while being the most sweet and charming little girl when she wants to. She is stubborn as all get out. When she has made up her mind about something there is no compromise. It’s “my way or the highway”. As difficult as this can be at times, I really admire her tenacity even though it often drives her mother to the brink of madness. I am comforted by the thought that nobody is ever going to push her around. She is definitely the dominant personality of the household."
Eating Lots Of Carbs, Sugar May Raise Risk Of Cognitive Impairment, Mayo Clinic Study Finds
Those 70-plus who ate food high in fat and protein fared better cognitively, research showed
People 70 and older who eat food high in carbohydrates have nearly four times the risk of developing mild cognitive impairment, and the danger also rises with a diet heavy in sugar, Mayo Clinic researchers have found. Those who consume a lot of protein and fat relative to carbohydrates are less likely to become cognitively impaired, the study found. The findings are published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease....
"The protein and carbs are the most important since they are the only two that can lead to weight gain"
False: protein has no calories. You are thinking the fat and in the chicken, beef, etc.
Just eat meat and veggies, think of carbs (grains and sugar, etc.) as poison
I lost 70 lbs and lose about 1/2 lb. a day - I walk 4-5 miles a day. I have 50 more lbs. to lose.
