This is worth noting!!!

The Arctic sea ice is melting at it's slowest July rate compared to all other July's. Melt rate is 46% less than the July 2007 rate. Not every place in the northern hemisphere is feeling above normal temperatures, quite the opposite up north.

NOAA has jumped the gun saying that 2010 is the hottest year! We still have 5 1/2 months of the year to go yet!

Related to the above story...while large parts of the northern hemisphere are being affected by heat waves, the rest of the year might be down-trending towards cooler than normal. Great graphics and rest of story > [link to pgosselin.wordpress.com]

The development of La Niña will likely help that trend along.

Totally agree. Ice ages start much faster than they end.

This chart is measuring the change in sea ice area over then entire year. The article is really only focusing on this month's slow melting. Sea ice is definitely down - all in all the North Pole icecap looks to be trying to recover back to a normal size like it was 20 years ago ~ for the summer norm. added: Temperature at the North Pole station are running 2C below normal -near freezing.

After digging a bit, it seems that the Antarctic sea ice running a bit above normal now. [link to www.iup.uni-bremen.de:8084]

You're right. There are more places in the world recording low temps (records) than hot.
