Truth vs Lies
I am one who lives by the truth but being human and quite capable of lies I find it difficult in this world to live by the truth. I am tempted daily to either lie or protray something that is less than the truth. I am a righteous man but it is still a struggle in this world. Thoughts?

Re: Truth vs Lies
The only way to avoid lying, is to stay forever quiet. Our words themselves, nay, our entire inner mental construct, is inherently a lie.

Remember the origin of this construct, the origion of thought. Remember the philosopher saying the only thing he was sure of, "I think, therefore I am", and trying to deduce further truth from that.

But he was already lying!

The word "I" is a lie in itself, because it implies we exist separately from everything else.

The phrase "I think" is a lie, because thoughts come to us, we are not the ones who do the thinking.

And so on.

Of course, me saying all this is just me telling more lies...

But you see, there really is no purpose in trying to avoid lies. We live and breathe lies. All we can do, is to try to use our lies as tools for better, rather than for worse. And of course remind ourselves that we are lying, and can't even tell better from worse in the first place, so that we don't get puffed up about ourselves.

That's just how our existence is. If you can't learn to live with it, get religion.

Re: Truth vs Lies
I don't agree. We are worthy of truth. We can exercise discipline and live in truth. To lie is a disconnection with our own being. To live in truth is not only a connection to ourselves but an exercise of faith in a higher spiritual realm.

Funny thing is, I do agree with the above!

I just happen to realize doing this (living in truth) is beyond our actual capability. As your earlier posts show, you are a Christian, so you should realize this too. "We are all sinners", all that jazz.

You cannot live in truth if you do not know truth.

And we don't know truth!

I certainly don't. You don't either. This is readily apparent from this earlier thread of yours, where you show a very childlike unawareness of how the world really works, and what part in it you are playing:

Thread: Are you in awe of all of the American warriors who chose to sacrifice their lives and fight those filthy bastards who kill our women and children?

That silly little rant sure wasn't typed up by a guy living in truth...

But I think I misread your original post. I thought you were concerned about finding truth, but failed to see the many pointers you are in fact deluding yourself into believing you have already found it. You clearly stated "I am one who lives by the truth" and "I am a righteous man", so I can't really tell why I didn't pick up on this right away. Selective reading on my part I guess.

Well, mr. "Rightous Man" who "Lives by the Truth", I can't help you. No-one can help you, as long as you cling to that Ego gratifying attitude. Keep patting yourself on the back for all I care.

Bye.
