It does not matter whether or not you assault an officer, they cannot and are not trained to punch people in the face, especially women.

I support equal-opportunity coercive force, and if effectively making an arrest means someone gets a smack in the chops, then a smack in the chops is exactly what they'll get. We can't sit there and play tug-of-war with people on the road all day.
