We need to know why Bp was allowed to drill this type of a well of of a floating platform. This well is the 1'st well to puncture the Macondo reserve. This Rig was drilling miles beneath the ocean floor and was floating in place only to be kept on spot by GPS...no anchors! Only Russia has done this before; and only recently. Russia has only done this on land and never encounterd this type of pressure. The BP operators know what type of pressure it took to blow past all safety preventions on the BOP. Therefore BP has a best guess of the wellhead pressure. Bp has a 'best guess"as too how much oil and gas is flowing from the Macondo wellsite disaster.

Getting to be a standard sort of congressional hearing.. not at all like a former congress that grilled an deep fried Howard Hughs for instance.

The lack of leadership is showing all around, on the congressional panel and at the table...

Does the world even have any leaders left in it?

The concept about drilling relief wells at the same time as the exploratory well is being drilled is a red herring...

Oil companies should focus exclusively on Oil.. let other corporations grow up to handle wind, solar, nuclear..

Or are we looking to have only 5 companies world wide providing ALL the energy we use? It seems some really desire that.

There are fissures up to 20 miles away releasing oil. The explosion blew the casing apart down in the well bore. The pressure has forced material through the weaker rock strata beneath the Gulf floor. This is why scientists are seeing "plooms" here and there. The five story high BOP is leaning over now. They cant just "cap" the original drill site now...it's too late. The emmissions of hazardous gases such as Hydrogen Sulfide

I doubt the relief wells are being drilled for the reason most of us think they are. I guess we will see.

I am shocked however to see these oil execs looking as tired as they do. Knowing the way they are it smells..really makes you worry??
