In the efforts to rebuilt and restructure these areas, a concern was placed on the vitality of this simple necessity and prompted the local businesses already in that industry to step it up a notch. Forces joined and a focus was placed on the water production and manufacturing power of the Gulf Coast states, enabling many to both find employment and allow these companies to contribute in a vital way to awareness of the need for clean water and also increase their own profits. HOWEVER... It is somewhat alarming to me, given the toxic nature of the Corexit being pumped into the Gulf of Mexico, that these local companies could potentially be putting their consumers at risk. This company that I found, Kentwood Springs, is a local bottled water manufacturer and the source of their water is an artesian spring. A deep water well, natural well from which their product is harvested. From their website @ [link to www.kentwoodsprings.com] About Kentwood Springs: In 1963, the founders of Kentwood Springs Water Company went on a quest for pure water. They found it in a deep artesian spring in the woods of Kentwood, Louisiana. Since then, we have been bottling Kentwood and providing water delivery to homes, offices and retail outlets across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. The water, by its parent company name, is sold in the areas listed above, however in 2007, Kentwood Springs, in an acquisition, took over manufacturing and ownership of the company, Abita Springs Water, which continues to be sold under its same name, but is now manufactured and bottled in Kentwoods Springs, Louisiana. Article here: [link to www.prweb.com] Kentwood Springs, is a subsidiary of DS Waters of America, Inc, which is also a sister company to the following: Alhambra, Belmont Springs, Crystal Springs, Hinckley Springs, Sierra Springs, Sparkletts, as well as their national brand, Nursery Water. Nursery Water is the brand marketed for use in preparing baby formula. 0_0 Here is a link to their quality assurance page: [link to www.kentwoodsprings.com] While I would hope that the new threat of contamination by corexit or gases would be taken into consideration, the fact of the matter IS, that all of us know that bottled water samples have been exposed many, many times for having contaminants in them...Dioxin being the one that comes to mind. The VERY life sustaining force, (water) that we are watching be destroyed in the Gulf, happens to also be the life sustaining force that none of us can live more than 2 days without. The importance of knowing where your $1.50 bottled water came from, is of greater importance now than it EVER was. If evacuations or serious emergency crisis response is necessary, one of the first resources sent out is BOTTLED WATER. This is certainly something no one has considered, but it is of great concern. I didn't mean to do that...or did I? |
