I was just discussing the Gulf Oil Catastrophe with my daughter. I was telling her that a friend in the Gulfport, MS area should start making alternative living arrangements with family or friends up north.

She matter of fact like told me she saw a patch of sheen in the Atlantic Ocean between New York City and Boston when she flew in to Boston on Friday June 4, 2010!!!!! This was her first time flying, so she was making a simple observation that she noticed a rainbow sheen in the ocean somewhere after they flew over NYC, but before landing in Boston.

You can throw up all the flags you want, say no linky, etc. I do not have anything but her testimony to what she saw. She is not one for making stuff up and I really don't think she gets how bad this whole thing is.

Are there any GLP'ers up in that area or others who have flown over that area who have witnessed the same thing?

***See replies below for links from other GLP'ers.

Thanks for being the first flag, but I do not bullshit nor does my daughter. I am not saying that it is from the GOM catastrophe, could be a number of things locally. I am just wondering if anyone else has witnessed this in the Boston area or anywhere over the Atlantic coast really.

Is that the "official report"? If so, I wonder what the truth is.

IF it is that far north (Boston) already, we are truly toast.

Thank you AC. I just quickly posted what my daughter said without searching for other threads. I was like in HOLY CRAP shock.

You are very kind to link your thread to mine. Thank you!

Well Deborah, I believe you. About a week after the rig exploded an oceanographer was on local radio (Ireland). He said taking currents and conditions into consideration we should start to see oil on the Southern and western shores of Ireland by mid to late June. I posted this info here.
It is mid June now!

But according to TPTB, the oil hasn't left the Gulf yet!

Wow! The oceanographer expects it to be in Ireland that soon?!

Maybe the dispersant is acting like an accelerator. I guess that would actually make sense. By breaking everything up it can affect a larger area at a faster rate while keeping the heavy stuff hidden. You can't hid sheen though, I guess.

Phenn has a thread about mass evacuation of the Gulf Coast AND the East Coast. I would think this thing is moving much faster than they are telling us. What about the whole catastrophe HAVE they told the truth about?

I live in Long Island NY. About a week ago or so I heard radio reports in which politicians were stressing the importance of being prepared to cope with oil washing up on our shores.

If the politicians feel compelled to make preparations here, it is safe to conclude that the oil has traveled further than they would like to admit.

I live in WPB and haven't seen any oil offshore, either boating or flying. And I haven't heard any other boaters reporting it either and most of these guys go much further out than I do. So, nothing here, yet. But eventually... we too will be done, luckily we won't get a full brunt of it, as most will keep moving north and out into the atlantic.

Re:
Lots of yachts and shipping in the area which are responsible for large oil sheens.

I believe the Gulf Stream would have taken any Gulf oil east into the Atlantic, far south of the waters off southern New England.

Re:
I pieced all those satelite images together and you can see that the oil sheen has already made it past new york and the entire east coast. Its insane how fast this thing moved. They kept us focused on LA MS FL removed most public data about the loop current, and we had no idea how fast this was moving. Now we do. Thanks for the heads up. Ps nice avitar! rockon

I wish I were more knowledgeable about the satellite images, currents, etc. We do have some great resources here on GLP who do understand and are very good at explaining it to the rest of us.

I sent an email to a friend who lives near the coast in NC to see if she has seen or heard of anything there.
