Anonymous Coward User ID: 985286 United States 06/05/2010 02:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Tessa... This is horrible - and it's going to get so much worse. :( Quoting: Anonymous Coward 993511Jim Tucker reported from Bilderberg that they plan on using this disaster as a stepping stone for their carbon tax... they will surely let it grow and continue until no one would argue against taxing pollution... Tucker also said that BP is one of their "brothers" and basically... nothing is going to happen to them. GET OFF MY PLANET YOU SCUM. it's just deplorable...they have no regard for the lives of the people they're affecting... or those poor animals that are dying, not to mention the larger predators that will START dying off once the smaller food chain critters are less in numbers... or the beaches and water that are irreplaceable... they're going to destroy it all, it's absolutely heartbreaking :( And yet you probably drive a gasoline powered car. It all starts with us not them. And you are likley typing this on a computer whose electricity (even to chage its battery) came from a coal fired, oil fired, or nuclear reactor, power plant. . . hence, your shit stinks too. And it does START with THEM.. had THEM not ever done any coal mining, oil drilling, etc, there would never have been their product to buy.. hence we would have denuded planet earth of all its trees for wood energy. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 360796 United States 06/05/2010 02:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It may be too soon for people to be open to this but I'm going to mention it anyway. We do have a part in polluting our environment and damaging our planet. We've been hypnotized by the seduction of just running to the store and buying whatever product we desire, no matter the amount of packaging or the method of production. The companies have been sly in keeping hidden the filth they produce behind the scenes and we haven't really spent time taking it into consideration. Until now... it's hard to ignore the entire gulf turning into an oil vat. It is up to us to hold them accountable and we have failed in this regard. Just like the people who witness a violent crime but do nothing to stop it, or worse open the door for the perpetrator on his way out. It's okay though. I believe we'll learn to become more conscientious and live more simply, which is what these companies don't want. Heck, I'm a product of the eighties. We were having a lot of fun and didn't care about much. But I look at my kids and know things will be different. They just don't desire much, you know? They seem more centered, more grounded than my generation. They're not huge consumers and are content with what they have. We've all contributed but it's been by design. |

It all starts with us not them. ==== you need to get off the collective guilt trip. you have a group that desires certain goods to be supplied and a company willing to provide same to make profit, but it is the responsibility of the company providing the good(s) to obtain them in a responsible manner... WE DIDN'T DRILL THE FUCKING HOLE... can't you morons figure this out? is it too simple for you? grow a brain. Exactly... You can bet all the main pundits of the "collective guilt MEME" are fully funded by the Oil Companies themselves. Because it waters down the guilt of the oil companies when they have acted irresponsibility, or have an accient, to where nothing much really gets done or changes, because, hey, ya know, we are all guilty... its a great way to take the full focused heat off of the very parties that are guilty ... and it Ain't All of Us. I didn't drill that fracking hole either, nor did I drill and dig the big hole out in my mothers back back yard, that contains an ICBM Peacemaker.... making mom's back yard one of the ground zeros of ground zeros if all hell breaks loose. no, I'm a guy who now has a fully operational 100W output solar panel with 8 hour battery back up, made totally from dumpster bait discared Solar yard lites - that someone else irresponsibly just tossed in the trash.. I'm working up to a 2KW system.. my cost -- time dumpster diving and building -- but then the NiCads perhaps present an environometal problem, later on, but I have extended their lives and saved them fron the land fill.. when I am done with them they will be properly disposed of not just tossed in the trash. We do our part and continue to insist that the energy companies do theirs. |

Please go sell your car, your bicycle, disconnect all your electricity, and you can't go solar-wind or anyother electricity producing system because at least some part of them all willhave been produced using oil, also empty you medicine cabinet, and get rid of all the plastic in your house and yard, including your eyeglasses if you wear them. It can't just be 'all things in moderation' and living comfortable lives in balance by cleaning what we mess as we go? Norway is a good example of sustainable living. Quoting: TX PATRIOT 950567there is NOTHING wrong with using oil and its by-products to make useful products... NOTHING.... ANYTHING can be a danger when IT IS OBTAINED in an irresponsible manner... it is the DIRECT responsibility of the company providing the goods to obtain them in a safe manner. THIS IS SOLELY BP'S FAULT and this collective guilt crap is nothing but garbage. I am not asserting that BP is not at fault for not following safe procedure, but to think that BP is the only company operating in this manner is simply an uneducated position. They do it in the US BECAUSE THEY CAN. By law, ALL of them can.......and do. It is systemic. Not so in other countries. And to blind yourself to your/my complicity is just, well, blind. Believe me, if there was no demand for this level of product, there would be no searching for supply. And if the US (corporate controlled Congress) were not so lax in drilling, safety and contingency response regulations in the US in going after the supply, then we would experience less of this destruction. One only need look at the laws and the safety record of the same oil companies operating in other countries. My point: understand this is SYSTEMIC...it is NOT just BP. It is driven by demand and followed by a lack of appropriate regulations to ensure safety in this country. It could have as easily been Shell, TOTAL, etc. On the other hand, be very, very careful in falling for support of Cap and Trade as this law has absolutely nothing to do with this issue. . it still boils down to irresponsibility on the part of the companies that obtain the goods without a sense of conscience or decency. no matter our level of demand, they could still obtain, distribute and profit from their products WITHOUT causing such destruction and chaos. THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY. The people who push the collective guilt mindset would happily lay a heavy burden of guilt upon the shoulders of good, hardworking people who have worked in different areas of the oil industry who were only trying to feed their families and be productive members of society. I don't think they need that unjustified burden on top of the other financial and emotional burdens they are about to experience in the months and years to come because of the sheer magnitude of BP's fuck-up. That's not right. and now I'll quit hijacking the thread with my politics.. LOL.. :) Water always wins. :sun: |
