opinions wanted, about something that happened to me yesterday (psychic stuff maybe)

I really do appreciate everyone tha has been talking to me about this.
You all have helped me see things much more clearly that I was this morning.... :)

You have to do what's put in front of you.. you're lucky that you're being offered a choice and don't have current material problems. I say you should really use what you're told.

Here's my wisdom/ 2 cents from life experiences, hopefully will help you.

1. You have a gift, and you should share your gift with others, for there are many that may be helped in their own life with your gift..it speaks to them, it helps them somehow. And through your gift, it will help you overcome your weaknesses in life. You know what they are, and it seems life is telling you, ok, now is the time to face them! And you WILL do fine!! : )

2. As you know, not everyone is the same on this planet..diff. personalities, opinions, walks of life. For those that don't seem to be a fit for your gift, you need to let that roll off your back like a water on a duck. They need to keep searching for what is their own fit. Dont' let them be an obstacle to your own life.

3. Yes, the economy is bad. But it doesn't matter if life or whatever you want to call it is giving you some pretty clear messages / hints.

For example, my husband lost his job of 25 years (closed down). It freed up time for him to focus more on his own business he'd been doing on the side. His business is one that there are many competitors, and he actually went into a funk about even trying to reach out to new customers, etc because of the "economy". He just assumed it would be a worthless effort. However, people kept calling him, reaching out to him and placing orders! It's AMAZING! He's also a very good person with a heart of gold, and I think that life takes care of those..like you!

4. In summary, life is talking to you, trying to guide you. It's up to you to listen.

Loving myself has always been a huge challenge for me..and feeling loved has been too.
I do believe it is the 1 have not gotten past....I have been, still am to a degree, very self destructive.
I choose to hurt myself, instead of other people when I'm in emotional pain.
I once had a Counselor tell me that the reason I destroyed things in my life ( my creations, relationships) was because I knew in my heart that these things were going to fail, and that I just went ahead and did it myself, instead of waitng for it to happen...
Said I didn't feel like I deserved anything good in my life...because when ever I had it, it had been taken away from me....so I just started doing it myself, instead of waiting for the inevitable to happen.
So, you are very right...my BIGGEST challenge.
Hopefully, I will conquor it before I leave here..

synchronies and harmonics-- they happen through consciousness and subcounsciousness if you missed something in your life... like for instance- if im suppose to read a certain book- all the info in my days ahead will lead me to finding that book-reading it- it fits with everything in my head Right now- then i gain from it.. its my mind working in sync with the world around it.....

I know, I am so very fortunate ..I am very blessed to be so safe right now, when so many are having so many problems.
Sometimes, I feel guilty, that I am so blessed, and don't understand why I am...
I'm no one special...make no huge contributions to the World...seems like it could be used on someone doing something more worthy than just me..

I'm gonna keep my eyes and ears open, listen to my heart, and that still voice...hopefully find my way

The opinions seem overwhelming to support what you just said here....I have no doubt that this is what I'm supposed to do..
And I'm happy I took the risk of putting this out there, to be able to hear from complete strangers about it.
I can't believe the number of people that have taken the time to consider my situation, and speak to me so plainly and freely from their hearts.
I never expected to get this much response, or thought it would be such a huge landslide in 1 direction.
It has me so moved...I asked the Universe if it was sending me messages, by posting this today....and the Universe has answered with such an awesome response....I'm just overwhelmed by it.
You all have helped me take my first step into following the path that is being put before me...given me courage that I will be alright in doing this.
Looks like it just wasn't time before, when I walked away from it for so long.

Less risky than starting a physical business and there are more advertisement opportunities.


You could start a Facebook page, get a lot of people to join it... put up a post saying you're looking for models to put on your stuff and take (good) pictures of themselves wearing it ... and send those to you, and use them for the pics on your website. You could pay them something small and/or let them keep what you send them to wear.


There are a lot of ways to make your product popular on the internet... you have to put time into it and gather up the right contacts.

Her avatar name is ladyintraining. She has a limited number of things on there now since she has been selling some things. She is very much into natural things so things like reusable diapers with diaper covers, very cute newborn knits, etc. She just delivered (at home by themselves) her fourth child--with back-up emergency plans, of course. So, her focus is on natural, functional, and beauty. All of her sisters (I have 6 redheaded daughters) are very artistic and talented (if I do say so myself). Back in the 1960's we kind of set the tone for them with macrame, knitting, crocheting, decoupage, etc.

I did not address the issue of psychic, because you probably would not like what I have to say about it. My wife was EXTREMELY psychic. She has foretold things that were exactly as she saw--even many years later. However, her family had MANY psychic experiences that led to madness. Psychic phenomena is extremely dangerous. I am the first to admit that it is very real and I could tell you of many instances, but I have seen VERY LITTLE good come of it. It opens up doors that are not easy to shut. I would be VERY wary of psychic phenomena. It may benefit you in the short run, but in the long run it can ruin you.

Seems that I am being helped with some of this, already...
I have a photographer friend that I model for sometimes...
He works with lots of other models besides me..
He asked me to come over a couple of weeks ago, and meet some girls..wanted me to bring my wearables...
We are working with the girls, taking pics of wearables...now! :D
The girls don't want anything other than pics that come out of the shoot, for their portfolios....
It's a win/win/win for all of us..the photographer gets new pics...the girls get portfolio pics...and I get to get the pics I see in my head, for the new wearable portfolio...for free. None of us have to spend a dime,and we all benefit! :D
I see very tastefully done nudes, black and white, the only color being the article of clothing the girl is wearing...
The scarves are very long, so it has all kinds of room for play in posing the girls.
I thought that since I'm an artist, and I'm wanting to get across that a) These are Wearable Art
b) They are so warm and soft, you don't need clothing with them, if you don't want it.

That would be a good way to go...
Not offensive, yet beautiful and arty...art to sell art! :)

It's always best to do what you're passionate about... I smell success...

I've never had health care since I left my parent's when I turned 18....
Been mostly self employed for the past 21 years...so...
Always made money with my art...just haven't pushed for success.
Right now, my "job" is helping out my Dad.
He's elderly, living in this big house, on 8 acres that needs maintnance.
He's lost his vision, because the Dr.'s messed him up doing eye surgery...set off Macular Degeneration.
He can't see to drive anymore...needs someone to help him with everyday life.
If I wasn't here...he would have to leave here, go to some assisted living place.
I can't quit this job..it's near and dear to me. My only real living family, besides my son.

What does your gut say? Before you go to sleep each night ask the question. Keep a notebook by the bed to record stuff when you very first wake up.

Know that if you go into biz w/ yr BFF - it could end yr friendship. Money does that. Power struggles do that. (in relation to biz decisions)

If u decide yes and u keep running into endless obstacles - it is the universe giving u a message.

I suggest keep selling stuff - maybe at fairs and crafts markets, online, word of mouth. Etc. Low overhead. A building establishment is expensive.

it is a blessing to beable to do what you do.
Not doing it will lead you to depression.

Consider, you create your art as you wish, when you wish. If your friend would like to open a shop, let her open a shop. When you have something to sell, give her shop first right to carry it. This way you will not be burdened by having to produce continuously to cover the overhead of the shop. This way your creations will not be compromised by producing the same thing over and over because it's "popular with the customers." This way you set the price you want for what you create, not being compromised by "we have to sell, sell, sell to make rent this month."

If you wish to avoid being discovered and prefer to remain anonymous, market all your creations under a common name.... "Woodsprite" or whatever. No one need ever say, "Jill Smith made this... she's great, you should meet her." It becomes, "What are you wearing?.... It's a Woodsprite."

You create as you wish and when you wish, you get your price, you stay in the background.

I do worry about the money ruining our friendship. I've had it happen before, lost good friends over petty amounts of money...they avoided me because they thought I would ask them for it back. They never understood, that their friendship was more important to me than $50
It is one of the most nagging things in this scenario I've been presented with..
I really value her more as a friend, and it's more important to me than the money is...
But...I also know that me being me..I always want to help people I care about.. I know I could help her for a while anyway..help her get started maybe?
The thought has crossed my mind that maybe she is looking up to me as some sort of Mentor..
She is creative, and does artwork too...not as advanced as me, but she is much younger, only 25.

Seems like when I've been ready, managed to screw up the courage to give it a good go, the Universe wasn't ready for me...
And, when the Universe has been ready, I wasn't...
It's been Hell!

I realllllllly like the one about using Woodsprite, instead of my given name.
on all my art, I normally only use a logo I designed when I was 12, that spells out my first name, and a printed last name.
Would be real easy to just use the Woodsprite...then the logo.
No one ever can tell it's my first name anyway, unless I've shown it to them... ;)

About my friend opening the shop on her own...
You are probably right, it's something she should do on her own...but I know she wouldn't be able to do it.
She dosen't have the business experience I have...
She would need my background to be able to secure any kind of Grant money.
Michelle dosen't have the documented stuff people look for when they are handing out Grant money.
They look for Art School, Awards, wins in Juried Competitions...
She just dosen't have any of that...

I so agree. We are all in a good time now with Mercury direct for a few mos. It is about value exchange be it from a home front, an online business, referral word of mouth or a retail environment. Ask yourself what motivates you to do this with the other person. Talk to your higher Being.

If you're needed for the business side to run the shop, would you have time to create your works? Would it be easier for the two of you to find an existing outlet for your art, and not have to worry about raising funds, getting grants and becoming administrators and accountants?

Pricing your art is not the same as pricing a table. A table takes $X in wood plus $X in labor, plus a profit margin. Most carpenters can duplicate another carpenter's work, so prices reflect straight costs. A meal could cost $200 in a five star restaurant. The actual food on the plate and labor do not come close to $200, what you're paying for is the skill of the chef. Art is unique and individualistic. No other artist may be able to capture what you create. Do not set your prices based upon material costs and your time, base them upon the difficulty of another artist replicating what you do. Find an outlet for your work that will accept your prices. If you can't find one, sell through Craigslist or similar sites. You don't need the work behind a funding your own shop to create and sell. In time, an established shop in some part of the country will find you, and represent your "Woodsprite" line. You stay anonymous, are well paid, and don't have to become an administrator.

I wouldnt go into business with anyone at this point with the economy as it is.Since you are the one with all the creative ideas and do the actual work why not sell on your own.Why have to cover needless overhead and share profits.
Try local craft shops on consignment,try ads in the paper,maybe try EBay if you are up to dealing with them.See how you do in the market before risking money.

These were my thoughts exactly and I'm pretty intuitive sometimes. You need to wait a while and see if anything else happens to lead you opening a shop. Don't let your friend push you into something you aren't ready for.

Haven't read through everyones posts and perhaps someone has suggested this to you already, but have you thought about opening an Etsy.com shop? It is for artisans just like yourself. I have a few friends who are doing quite well on etsy & love it. I have purchased a few pieces of unique artwork on etsy also. You could do this prior to opening up a brick and mortar shop.
