BP and the gov't have lied from the beginning. First they said it was a small leak not even visible, then they said less than 5000 gal a day. The telementry from the rig was turnedd off 7 hours prior to the event. Something monumental was occuring as 7 VP's from BP flew straight to the rig prior to the disaster.

This is not a simple blowout, this is a crack in the largest deepest oil find ever, with tremendous pressures blowing by all manmade devices. They lied about the oil plumes and they continue to BS the public. BP refuses to provide instrumentation to the gov't scientist.

A crack in the ocean floor can release all the methane and oil at once into the atmosphere, ending life for a thousand miles or more. Nuke it or lose it. OBAMA needs to put the CEO of BP in a cell at Gitmo bay with the gay prison population.

Another suggestion.. haul a large expandable balloon type object down to the cracked pipe.. design it so that it can be wrapped around the crack.. and pulled tight with "laces" so to speak. Attached to the "top" of the balloon, is the siphon hose, that will hold a certain volume and also deliver the escaping oil to a tanker floating above.

Maybe, but I think that the best thing for people to do now is possibly evacuating. This this is going to end up killing the Gulf. The economic impact alone is going to be insane. Wont work. By time the oil travels up the pipe 1 mile, the 13,000lbs pressure will blow the seal at the temporary connector. We need a temporary connector that has 15,000blbs of pressure bite.

We can't 'suck it' up a 1 mile pipe. Pumps can pump real good, they can't suck real good. Crews would need to place a series of pumps, lets say every 250', and the first pump would need to a) work at ocean pressures of 5000' underwater, and b) handle 13,000lbs pressure input. Then we have the problem of powering it. DC can't travel 1 mile and still have quality voltage, and internal combustion pumps need fuel and air, both of which would need to be piped down to the pump.

Drilling to remove pressure away from the mail hole I guess wont work because the oil filed is too large and all we would wind up with is 5 overloaded holes instead of one.

Drilling down into the hole at an angle to may work but a) they need to hit the mail hole and b) then need to send a plugging agent 2 miles down. Sending cement two miles down a 8" pipe souls like a big ole fail to me. They should use epoxy resin. Something with a 12hour set time. Something like System West. I think it will flow better than cement. It also has a thinning agent. They should practice down a 1+ mile long dummy pipe first.

you know, speaking of running out of time, I think they have no choice but to plug it. Because once storms start coming, they will need to detach and move vessels. If they try to cap it then, it will probably blow the temporarily connected pipe. They would need to let it spill again until the storm passed.

There is so much oil there, they will also have the problem of hauling and storing it.

Even though they should, I don't think they can plug it. it will blow the pipe again.
