I have never noticed red stars before but lately a few seem to be a reddish color. Not mars btw.... There is more then one and they "twinkle". Atmosphere? Quoting: KimmieAnnaJonesThere are many stars that are red to the naked eye. Antares means rival of Mars, because of the red color. Other red stars are Betelgeuse, Arcturus, Gacrux, Aldebaran, and there are many more. All stars twinkle. It is an atmospheric effect. |

And that Kate Price. In fact, I wouldn't really say she's red, but decidedly orange. More orange than usual, in fact. The chariots of God are tens of thousands, and thousands of thousands. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 548111Betelguese in Orion is red. That one is really noticeable. Antares is also red but more orange usually. Sometimes seen to the south. If you have more than those 2 and mars then it's something else. |

Not mars btw.... There is more then one and they "twinkle". Atmosphere? Quoting: KimmieAnnaJonesLast night I saw a VERY red star, right above the horizon. I kept thinking it was an aircraft light, but it just wasn't moving. Very red. I have also noticed a lot more of the super twinkly red blue yellow flashing stars. It is a great day to be alive! |

Twinkling is not new, but the red seems so to me. Quoting: lil*missThen you just haven't been looking. There are a handful of very red stars that have been known throughout history. Albebaren, Betelgeuse, Arturus, Antares, etc. |

I tend to agree with him. Any star that gets low on the horizon will twinkle alot. It will also show multiple colors, that is part of the twinkling effect. Light at different colors will take slightly different paths producing brief views of many colors. |
