Re: Freak waves spotted from space
Hurricane Ivan, a category 4 storm, passed directly over six wave-tide gauges deployed by the Naval Research Laboratory on the outer continental shelf in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico. Waves were observed with significant wave heights reaching 17.9 meters and maximum crest-to-trough individual wave heights of 27.7 meters (91 feet). Analysis suggests that significant wave heights likely surpassed 21 meters (69 feet) and that maximum crest-to-trough individual wave heights exceeded 40 meters -132 feet) -near the eyewall.

Re: Freak waves spotted from space
"Two large ships sink every week on average," said Wolfgang Rosenthal, of the GKSS Research Centre in Geesthacht, Germany. "But the cause is never studied to the same detail as an air crash. It simply gets put down to 'bad weather'."

on average over a hundred "LARGE" ships a yr sink....

maybe someone else can navigate the page better or has the time for the research :) I am wondering what is on those ships and why we don't hear about them. Aren't there oh IDK like PEOPLE that need rescued and such, how much fuel are they carrying when they go down " on average", etc so why no further investigations as Wolfgang states ?

Re: Freak waves spotted from space
So scientists are just now getting around to "confirming" what has been common knowledge among sailors for hundreds of years. And while scientists have been looking down their noses at sailors, two large ships are going down per week, possibly due to these rogue waves.

This is the same mindset of scientist that tells you we are descended from monkeys, and a freak accident due to a big bang billions of years ago. Are you really going to put your faith in some snooty scientists who are clearly blinded by their own preconceptions to see what is staring them in the face. God created our universe, and Jesus is returning soon for his friends. Romans 1 tells us that all of creation, including rogue waves testifies to God's handiwork. Will you put your faith in Jesus, or in man's theories?

since tsunamis are virtually invisible on the surface of the ocean-the bigger they are, the less likely they are to be noticed-how do these rise up out of calm seas as walls of water ala THE POSIEDION ADVENTURE?

Sailors often whisper of monster waves when ships sink mysteriously but, until now, no one quite believed them.

Wow, Saudi Arabia. I would've thought GLP would be banned over there. Do you have any internet censorship?

I actually kind of like it. I think it is really encouraging to see so many people from some many cultures, nations come to this site in search of truth... It shows me that there are many of us who are trying to wake people up all over the world... fuck yeah.

But I hope you don't get censored, for real.

i remember when the edmund fitzgerald sank, and that happened on lake superior, which is a pond compared to the oceans, but is also extremely dangerous.

thanks for all the additional comments. i wonder how much carnival cruise line would pay to have this story go away?

Y'all!

What about that "rogue" wave, as they called it, that just slammed into that French cruise ship last week or so?

Said to be at least 25 feet high - - can you imagine seeing that coming at you?

And it killed 2 people on the ship!

(Hi Malu!)

I thought about this recent event, too. Seems like there have been more and more reports of "rogue waves" capsizing ships and boats lately...
