[quote:mopar28m:MV85ODUwMDdfMTU0Mzk0NDZfMjA0MjQyQg==] 12/13/2009 Clerk, United States District Court IA To whom It May Concern, I have been summoned to appear for Grand Jury Dury starting in January 26, 2010. It is against my religious beliefs to sit in judgement of others. For only God himself can judge righteously. Matt. 7:1-2 1 "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Luke 6:37 37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 1 Cor. 5:12 12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 1 Cor. 4:5 5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of men's hearts. Thank you for your time & your wisdom in granting me a religious exemption from jury duty. I have jury duty tomorrow, and I will be going without complaint or disgruntlement...
why?
Because it is a foundational exercise of our freedom, for someone accused of a crime to be judged by a panel of peers in an open court, and not some dark, secret 'starcourt' full of elite or by judges on the take, who have no care for the common man.
Next time you get that notice in the mail, think about the justice you may help serve on someone, instead of whining or thinking of ways to shirk your responsibility.
You may not have the privilege in the future. Make a difference, now.
