Original Message So many people are awakening and seeing the sky for the great show that it is, but many still don't understand how the moon comes up at a different time each day of the cycle and how it appears to the viewer at different places on the planet.

I really like this applet on this website because it will show you what the moon will look like and its position in relation to the sun.

Look at the difference between the northern hemisphere and the southern one, and how the moon appears at the poles:
