[quote:Eilonwy:MV80OTU5MTczXzkwNjk2MTUyXzMxNTJEQkRC] I thought one of the salient points was that once the cycles of inflation begin, you loose your money very quickly. In the first few cycles. And the banks close, also slowing any last minute changes to your monetary situation. In two years money went from being able to buy 3 houses to being able to buy a TV. So, in order to be "ready" for hyperinflation you have to constantly be prepared. Sink a certain amount of whatever you can into real things like skills and stuff you can trade or use. Also interesting: if you had gold bars, you'd hide them in the ground and those would be your savings for a rainy day. They were illegal to own. Small pieces of jewelry were exchanged though. Gold was made into things like rings in order to exchange in a somewhat less illegal way. (wedding rings weren't strictly illegal for instance). Interesting also that he says that certain of his relatives NEVER trusted or used banks again. A house was exchanged for a gold necklace, so I suppose that shows that real estate tanked and gold went to the moon. [/quote]

You NEED to watch this. We are undoubtedly headed for hyperinflation. This is an AMAZING interview by a man who grew up during hyperinflation in Romania. He explains in depth how his family survived. What was important and what worked. How they managed to survive and mistakes they made. These are real world strategies for common people living paycheck to paycheck. And he talks about what people should do to protect themselves and not starve.
This is a long video but well worth it. The guy drops essential info and advice all through it
