[quote:Green Eggs & Ham:MV80Njg4NzQ4Xzg1MzM1NzEzXzM1MDk2Qg==] Now, regarding this young mother, I think that sometimes, well-to-do people don't quite get what women go through if then run into unfortunate events as young mothers. I lived through exactly what this woman did as a young mother leaning to be a nurse's aide. Until I was beyond the minimum wage stage, I was living in a shelter with my infant child. This was before I found my family now. Many years before. Her father was supposed to be my forever, but he turned out to be a slow cycling bi-polar with severe problems. I had apparently met him during a good couple of years. But the poor thing went right over the edge shortly after we had my daughter and tried to kill me. That shit wasn't my fault either. I was a young adult, married to a man with a decent job. He just went nuts. It happens. And before I knew it, I was homeless and an only parent, with no way to get any help from her institutionalized father. You can't blame people for being caught in this type of poverty and be honest. I went through it again years later when my next husband, and the father of my son, nearly died. We went from middle class family making 6 figures between us and living in a beautiful house with three hobby cars to losing everything. We had to sell all three cars to pay rent (of course we'd lost the house). And the crazy thing was, we had insurance, sick leave, all of it, but it wasn't enough and came too late. We were low on savings because we'd just had a baby. Twice I'd built a life and started a family. Twice it was ripped away by circumstances beyond my control. The life this woman lives is very real. And you never know, she may turn out to be your doctor when you're old and dying. I'm about to become a lawyer after all. Respect. Women who can overcome the circumstances of this nation still have the fighting spirit. The nanny state is a myth. It's no nanny. It's Oliver Twists' orphanage, it's the slave master's whip, it's Robin Hood, but in reverse and we're ALL serfs. If you weren't a serf, you wouldn't be here. [/quote]
