Original Message The story of civilization is one replete with tyranny.

Again and again, cruel men of bereft morality have arisen among the ranks of humanity and have set their sights upon the absolute domination of their fellows.

Kings, tyrants and warlords, bullies and predators, rapacious despoiling corporations and warthirsty plundering civilizations persecuted as persecutors do, but in due course, on most every occasion, man transitioned from subjugation to rebellion when the masses arose, the damage too great to bear, and threw off their chains.

But each time, after a time, eventually a new oppressor would arise, and the dance would commence afresh.

But evil, often, doesn't present directly.

Sometimes, it exhibits a facade of harmlessness, largesse, or benign concern, never revealing the needle-sharp teeth that hide behind smiling lips until confidence is gained, guard dropped, and a trusting neck bared.

Sometimes, it charges in with trumpets blaring and hooves thundering, the clatter and clamor and intent unmistakeable.

And sometimes... it enters on a jackass.

The best laid plans of killers and kings are, from outset, flawed... because all involve men, and men are unpredictable.

And although masses and multitudes may bear backs to the whip repeatedly and without dissent for ages, occasionally, one will rear among them with a defiant heart, a face twisted in apostate scowl, and a taste for discord.

And then... the reckoning.

Republican Convention Schedule: Who’s Speaking and How to Watch

By Margaret Hartmann and Chas Danner

Earlier this month, senior Trump campaign officials said the Republican National Convention, which begins Monday, will feature “nightly surprises.” While those will undoubtedly still happen, we’ve finally been able to learn more details about what will actually happen at the 2020 RNC after weeks of mystery, both intentional and accidental.

----------

Here’s what we know about the event so far.

Where is the convention being held?

Speeches will largely take place from locations around D.C. Trump and the First Lady will deliver their big speeches from the White House, while most of the other speakers will reportedly perform live onstage, with an audience, at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium — though as the New York Times notes, “Current regulations in Washington prohibit gatherings of more than 50 people; Republican aides say they have hired ‘COVID experts’ to determine how many onlookers can enter the auditorium and what audience participation could look like.”

Roughly 300 Republican delegates will gather in person in Charlotte, North Carolina. Trump has said he plans to travel to Charlotte on Monday to visit with the delegates.

There will be no platform fight at the convention, as Republicans have no 2020 platform. Despite Trump’s wishes, the RNC has said massive crowds are not expected at any of the speeches.

How can I watch it?

The prime-time events — scheduled for 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. — will stream on Amazon Prime Video, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and YouTube. Like the DNC, the major TV networks will air portions of the prime-time lineup, and there will be fuller coverage an analysis on cable-news networks. The RNC has directions for tuning in on various devices here.

Trump is expected to speak every night
On Saturday, the New York Times reported that the president is expected to speak all four nights of the convention during the 10 p.m. hour. Aides described the president’s role as the week’s “talent in chief”:

Typically, the nominee makes a mundane appearance early in the convention — waving or watching from the wings — before a major speech at the end. Mr. Trump has dismissed that model and now plans to directly address the nation in prime-time on each of the convention’s four nights...
