[quote:Ferly:MV80MzI5Mzc5Xzc4ODQ3MjE0XzFCODM0MkMy] The shills need scientific facts... here we go: They say the people are losing the smell... "Nitrogen dioxide pollution exposure is associated with olfactory dysfunction in older US adults Olfactory dysfunction has profound effects on quality of life, physical and social function, and mortality itself. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) is a pervasive air pollutant that is associated with respiratory diseases. We show for the first time that NO2 exposure is associated with olfactory dysfunction in older US adults. These results suggest an important role for NO2 exposure on olfactory dysfunction, and, potentially, nasal disease more broadly." ... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5554588/ /// Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Association between Ambient Nitrogen Dioxide and Respiratory Disease in China "The risk of RD mortality due to NO2 was higher in the southern region (1.7%) than in the north (0.7%). Conclusions: Evidence was found that short-term exposure to NO2 was associated with an increased risk of RD mortality and RD hospital admission in China and these risks were more pronounced in the southern regions of the country, due in part to a larger proportion of elderly persons with increased susceptibility to NO2 in the population compared with the north." ... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5486332/ /// Short-Term Effects of Nitrogen Dioxide on Mortality and Susceptibility Factors in 10 Italian Cities: The EpiAir Study "... We found statistically significant associations with a 10-μg/m3 increase of NO2 for natural mortality [2.09% for lag 0–5; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.96–3.24], for cardiac mortality (2.63% for lag 0–5; 95% CI, 1.53–3.75), and for respiratory mortality (3.48% for lag 1–5; 95% CI, 0.75–6.29). These associations were independent from those of PM10 and O3. Stronger associations were estimated for subjects with at least one hospital admission in the 2 previous years and for subjects with three or more specific chronic conditions. Some cardiovascular conditions (i.e., ischemic heart disease, pulmonary circulation impairment, heart conduction disorders, heart failure) and diabetes appeared to confer a strong susceptibility to air pollution. Conclusions: Our results suggest significant and likely independent effects of NO2 on natural, cardiac, and respiratory mortality, particularly among subjects with specific cardiovascular preexisting chronic conditions and diabetes. ... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3230391/ /// Temperature, nitrogen dioxide, circulating respiratory viruses and acute upper respiratory infections among children in Taipei, Taiwan: a population-based study. "Current study suggested a positive association between outpatient visits for acute upper respiratory infections and ambient environment factors, including average temperature, air pollutants, and circulating respiratory viruses." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23040210 [/quote]

Don’t let them kill our parents or grandparents!
NITROGEN DIOXIDE HEALTH EFFECTS: Short-term exposures to NO2 can aggravate respiratory diseases, particularly asthma, leading to respiratory symptoms, hospital admissions and emergency department visits. Long-term exposures to NO2 may contribute to asthma development and potentially increase susceptibility to respiratory infections.

In China the air pollution decreased because the businesses and factories were closed from the last week in January into early February to celebrate the Lunar New Year and now their people are safe!
