[quote:Anonymous Coward 45587650:MV8zOTk1MDM3XzcyMjkzOTU3X0U1MDgwRTc=] [quote:Anonymous Coward 12877760:MV8zOTk1MDM3XzcyMjkzNzg5XzU2RDhGRUE3] I wonder how many will write their histories and put it in the ground for those 1000 years in the future to find. You'd have to think about how you'd do it. But history shows this kind of thing can be done.
I made a time capsule 20 years ago. It will not be found for millennia. Inside it I put some laminated then vacuum sealed pics of life as it was then. The ultimate 1999 capsule. I put in a small glass bong and sealed glass vial of distilled water. A vacuum sealed bag of buds. And a pack of seeds also insulated and vacuum sealed. Complete with pictorial and written instructions on their use. I put in a pack of smokes...5 bic lighters..a bottle of Jim Beam...and a cd copy of "cause of death) by Obituary. I put in a diagram of how to build a guitar too. I sealed the lot into an old small safe. Welded it shut then vaccum sealed it all. Then I wrapped it in 20 layers of heavy industrial plastic and sealed it all again in a huge block of wax. Then covered it over in ceramic tiles and shrink wrapped it and then welded aluminium plates to all sides sealing it yet again. Went out deepsea fishing a few weeks later and dumped it off the edge of the continental shelf. And there it will stay for untold eons. One day someone..somewhere will notice this block in a layer of strata. And...ponder....
When it all goes down electrically... what's the last generation that future folks are going to have proof of, the eighties? Nineties? All that will be left is books, poloroids, physical copies of everything, but today and the last twenty years everything has been digital.
