[quote:Lost Lady:MV8zNDE4MTkzXzYwOTc4NjcxXzdGMDA2MEFD] [quote:Sumtingwonger:MV8zNDE4MTkzXzYwOTc4NDc1XzdCRTk3MERC] When you give something a name, you give it power. For example, there was just a whole bunch of companies selling tobacco and a whole bunch of companies selling sugar. When you call them "Big Tobacco" and "Big Sugar", you make them into some personification of evil, associating them to our worst fears. The same thing happened with Weapons of Mass Destruction. Sounds terrifying and like it might hurt us. Fear is a powerful tool. Lately we use the word "hacking", although only a few people understand what it means and don't necessarily completely agree on a definition. Hacking has become a synonym for spying and betrayal. Betrayal is a close cousin of fear. Fake News is just giving a name to something that has existed forever. Rumor and lies spouted by both established and amateur news and media. It's designed to keep you afraid. Combine it with stories about hacking and Russia (a big scary monster to some people) and it's a complete scam. It isn't reverse psychology though - it's just common mythology. Relate something to your internal basic fears by giving it a name. Provide a sense of fear and betrayal to make you lose trust in your reality. Once they have you off balance, they go in for the kill.
You don't think lying to make people belive one thing, when really it's another, is reverse psychology? Could you explain that please? :hugs:
Just a thought here. I believe all this "new" revelation about "fake news" is being used to keep us all conflicted as to what to belive. If we can't belive anything, how can we unite for any cause? Mass confusion is a control measure. I fear Trump may be part of the game in this matter too. No, I'm not bashing Trump. I'm just saying that I don't think he's calling it out for the reasons everyone thinks he is. I think all are involved. If we can't believe any news sources, we can't believe what we may hear. They will use controlling "fake news" to hide things more than they already do. I think we should be careful of reverse psychology...smoke and mirrors.
