[quote:Dirtyboy:MV8yNTc4NDYyXzQ0OTA5Mzk1XzU3MUIzQUVD] A lot of people overlook the fact that temperature taking standards were not in place before the 1980s. Before that temperatures were taken outside windows, in parking lots and all sorts of places where the temperature was higher. Glaciers all over the Earth are retreating. This reflects warming. Many trees and other plants are under a lot of stress where the climate has become warmer. Areas of permafrost all over the globe are thawing. You have to be careful what you figure out with computer models. Today we have much better weather reporting/recording that what was available in the past. When you adjust past records you can get all kinds of results not reflective of what is actually happening. [/quote]

Wow!
NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data
