[quote:Anonymous Coward 21629395:MV8yMDg2OTY3XzM1MTU1ODgwXzE3OUI2Q0FD] People are quick to pass judgement. i use adderal and it opens many doors for me, i am able to think clearly, successfully express myself in front of others and set goals which allow me to get things done on time. I can understand why others think it is easy for people to become "addicted" but i get confused when people take Advil or any other medication everyday but claim they are not "addicted". There are many people who have a hard time finding motivation within themselves, including me, but once i was prescribed adderal, it was like a whole new world for me. I am now able to sit down, get work done, think clearly and articulate my thoughts. Call me addicted because ive been taking it for two years, but what is addiction? Yes abuse is addiction, but making dosage higher is a common thing among all medicines. I will admit adderal makes me lose some sleep, but i normally would lose sleep when i was not prescribed as well. Everything needs to be looked at in the right context, if medications make you violent, or ruin you're ability to function at work and or at home, then yes maybe you need to rethink which medications you are consuming. Most people I talk to, (who dont have a problem focusing, or dont take any medications) are usually the first ones to pass judgements on me (or others) who take medications. Although many pharmaceuticals are being abused, believe it or not there are some people who actually benefit from them. When looked at in the grand scheme of things, i take adderal to help me focus, it may be unhealthy in the long run but id rather be able to accomplish things than feel lost and confused with my thoughts. Eating meat and foods with preservatives is just as bad if not worse, why not let me be able to think straight and be a productive human being? [/quote]
Original Message
I think my 50+ female friend is addicted to adderall. I know she was diagnosed as ADD about 7 or 8 years ago, and she ran a successful business.
Now she is having severe health and mental issues and has lost her business.
Anyone else familiar with this addiction?
